Ministry Moment

The Great Commission | jeremymavis.com

Years ago I saw a movie about a Billionaire and a car mechanic who were strangers until they were in the same hospital room. The two men had a desire to complete a list of things they wanted to see and do before they die.  This movie moved me so much that I created my own list of things that I wanted to see and do and as I visit my list of seventeen items today, I was saddened to realize in my haste to be selfish about a list that I may not ever be able to complete, that I forgot to put the one thing on it that will allow me peace and fulfillment while living this Christian life. A primary Christian's duty is to lead someone to Christ.  While we are traveling and doing what our heart desires, we must not forget the great commission.

My Ministry Moment

Recently on one of my sporadic visits to the YMCA, I came across a table of a 1000 piece puzzle. I stepped up to the table and noticed the disarray, of pieces and it reminded me of my life and how much it is in such disarray at time. With every year comes new things that we want to incorporate into our already chaotic lives. Then frustration sets in when the pieces become scattered and began to fade into the background. We give up the idea of ever finishing such a task then a word comes into our spirit to encourage us.
 James 1:12
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet
trials of various kinds, for you know that the
testing of your faith produces steadfastness. ESV

Recently my husband and I were given the chance of a lifetime when we took nine of our grandchildren on a road trip. You may ask yourself, (what chance of a lifetime was that?). Well for me it was a trip that I hope will stay with them their whole life, just like the memories I have of my grandparents. I recall every summer spending two to three weeks with my wonderful grandmother, walking in her backyard garden, rubbing my hand over her wrinkled hands and trying to braid her soft salt and paper-thin long hair that she wore in two braids.

My grandfather sitting in the kitchen making his then-famous 7up pound cake that took three hours to prepare and another two to bake. Watching CBS soap operas, wrestling, and baseball for hours. Listening to them chat about how it was growing up in the harshest period of their lives. Now they are gone but I still have my memories.
This trip not only was a blessing to them but also to my mother who at the age of 83, has been given a memory that will be with her until God says well done.

We must treat our days as a gift that should be shared with others and thank God for those who receive our gifts of wisdom and time that they may pay it forward to create lasting memories. For our bodies, will disappear but the chance of a lifetime if taken will live on in those we love dearly.

My Ministry Moment

This year I celebrated a wonderful milestone. On July 7th I turned 57, numbers worth playing the lottery for, but this was not a game of chance, this was God giving me Favor, Grace, and Mercy.  You see, every day that you wake up is a day to be grateful. On July 7th,  I was given a birthday party coordinated by my awesome husband. He worked so hard to make this day special for me and with the presence of nine of my grandkids, family, and friends, it was one for my bucket list.
You see you don't need a whole lot of people to celebrate you, just those would love you unconditionally. Just as God did when he sent his son to die for our sins. That unconditional love is the reason I can love others.  Remember my friends celebrate others and let your love flow and believe me that love will come back to you. Blessing

My Ministry Moment

Today I find myself thinking about the past year and I realized just how long it took me to revisit that year. Have I grown any? This is the biggest question I ask myself. From my TODO list to my savings plan attempts, it seems that my footsteps went in reverse but then I am reminded that   “Psalm 46 says, God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. This fact alone has given me the strength to say to last year, "I will not dwell on you anymore because I live today to get it right with my Father in Heaven". Remember looking back takes up a lot of your time because of the many mistakes that we've made but thanks to God who knows our days and will guide, cover and strengthen us to learn from our mistakes so that we can take on each day.

My Ministry Moment

Today I welcome you to guide me. You are welcome to hold me, because so many things will try to rush me into tomorrow. Holy Spirit you are my today and to all who clings to this day I pray that the Holy will comfort you through whatever comes your way. Amen
Today is my present to unwrap with the fruit of the spirit.

My Ministry Moment ⛪

As she says goodbye she is taking many with her. She has tried to show us our rights and wrongs. She has been obedient to her Master, allowing Him to guide her days and nights. She gave praises to the storms and now she must leave us for a new year to guide us. Will you be with her or will you welcome her relief. Let's praise God for her for she was a testament of our faith. She is 2016 and her sister 2017 is eagerly waiting to say hello. Psalm 106:1 🕇
